Lecturer and Researcher at Jimma University | Ethiopia

Mr. Buzuneh Marine is an accomplished Ethiopian biostatistician, lecturer, and researcher with a strong academic foundation in Biostatistics and Statistics from Debre Berhan University and Debre Tabor University, respectively. Currently serving as a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Epidemiology at Jimma University, he has contributed extensively to public health research, particularly in the areas of child mortality, infectious disease modeling, and survival analysis. His scholarly work encompasses a broad spectrum of applied biostatistics, with a focus on predictive modeling, Bayesian statistics, and multilevel data analysis. His publications reflect a deep engagement with global and national health issues, including studies such as Time to death and its predictors among under-five children with acute pneumonia: a Bayesian parametric survival analysis, Time to Death and Its Associated Risk Factors among Tuberculosis Patients Undergoing Directly Observed Therapy at Butajira General Hospital, Child mortality among ever married women aged 15 to 49 years in Ethiopia using multilevel count regression models, Predictors of timely administration of measles immunization among children aged 12–23 months in Aw-Bare Woreda, Women’s unemployment in urban Ethiopia: Bayesian multilevel model approach, Predictors of survival in children with bacterial meningitis: a multilevel survival analysis, Modern contraceptive utilization among street beggar women in the Sidama region of Ethiopia using Bayesian model approach, Application of parametric survival analysis to women patients with breast cancer at Jimma University Medical Center, and An Analysis of Various Factors Underlying Covid-19 Prevention Practice and Strategy in Jigjiga Town, Northeast Ethiopia. Through these and numerous other works, Marine has established himself as a significant contributor to evidence-based health research in Africa, demonstrating advanced analytical skills, deep methodological knowledge, and a sustained commitment to improving public health outcomes through statistical science and data-driven decision-making.
